For the Love of the Game

By: Michael Jordan

“In that sense, I guess I was the chosen one.  No one in my family is over six feet tall.  Here I am 6-foot-6.  Where did that come from?”  Michael Jordan is the chosen one.  He is an amazing basketball player and an amazing person, because he never took advantage of his fame and never gave up.  Michael went thought many high points and some incredibly low times in his life.  Michael needed to overcome some incredibly tragic moments and learn a lot to become an astounding basketball player.  For example, he won multiple basketball world championships but he also had to deal with the loss of his father who he was very close to.

Imagine being one of the most famous people in the world and still trying to live and play the game you love to play.  Plus heart stopping tragedies and the highest of highs are happening within the same year.  Add the media to everything and it would be enough to drive anyone crazy.  This is exactly the mess Michael was in.  “I was beginning to feel like a fish in a fishbowl,” said Michael.  The book focuses on the feelings and emotions he felt while he looked back on his exhilarating life.  Michael Jordan explains what it feels like to be a famous athlete in the National Basketball League.  His book contains his conflicts with the media, his basketball career, and describes his emotional challenges throughout his life.

I loved the book.  I recommend For the Love of the Game to all basketball lovers and fans.  Michael Jordan’s experiences with adversity and his continued success showed me that by trying hard and never giving up, a person can overcome anything.
