Seoul
The 1988 Seoul games were very
controversial for Carl Lewis. He would be doing the same events as the previous
Olympics except for the 4x100m. He would be running against his rival, Ben
Johnson, who Carl knew was actively on steroids, in the 100m. Carl had gained
the teammate Joe DeLoach who would be running the 200 with him. Carl won the
long jump but lost to both Ben and Joe. Two days after the race with Ben test
results showed that he was on steroids and that he would be disqualified giving
Carl his gold. The 4x100m team that Carl was kicked off of ended up not even
getting a medal in an event that America should have won.
