Knots in My Yo-yo String Book review
Quite frankly I think that the book Knots in My Yo-yo
String, by Jerry
Spinelli has more weaknesses than strengths. This book focuses on Jerry
Spinelli’s childhood in
The
important point of this book is what happened in his childhood, and how that
influenced him and his other books. He does that by relating relevant stories
of his youth. The book has some major problems though, for example I am constantly
wondering why he put in some of his stories. Such as one story he put in which
he got attacked by a leech. I personally think that he put in those stories for
filler. It made me wonder “so what” and some of those were never answered.
Also, the reason he wrote the book is unclear, and the stories are just plain
boring. The book’s biggest strength is that he did a good job showing us how
his early days influenced
his writing. His experiences with growing up, for example, probably
influenced the story Wringer. Another thing that bugged me is the lack
of order. The stories are scattered randomly around that timeline of the book,
almost as if they are feed scattered for chickens. There are maybe ten or so
dates in the entire book.
I
find it hard to recommend this book to my friends so I would not really
recommend this book, unless you want a story to put you to sleep. It is boring
and the order of the book is unorganized.
